Sam Houston Choirs

Cantabile (B day/5th period) –This is the non-varsity women's (SA) chorus, and includes women grades 9 through 12. Members will be expected to maintain good grades, to have a good work ethic, and to participate in Winter, and Spring Concerts. They will learn and perform all styles of choral music, and will focus on vocal pedagogy, sight-reading skills, choral etiquette, musicianship, and schoolwork.

Bel Canto (A day/1st period) – This is the non-varsity women's (SSA) chorus, and includes women grades 9 through 12. Members will be expected to maintain good grades, to have a good work ethic, and to participate in Fall, Winter, and Spring Concerts. They will learn and perform all styles of choral music, and will focus on vocal pedagogy, sight-reading skills, choral etiquette, musicianship, and schoolwork. The Bel Canto choir may occasionally perform with the Mighty Texan Chorale and Big Tex Men?s Chorus at extra concerts and events.

Mighty Texan Chorale Women (A day/2nd period) – This is the varsity women?s (SSA) choir, and includes women grades 9-12. This competitive group is comprised of auditioned choir members. They are expected to maintain eligibility at all times, to have a good work ethic, and to participate in all choir performance activities including Fall, Cluster, Winter, and Spring Concerts, as well as All-Region, Solo and Ensemble, and UIL competitions. They will perform many varied styles of choral music, and will focus on vocal pedagogy, sight- reading skills, musicianship, and ethics.

Big Tex Men's Chorus (B day/6th period) – This is the men's (TBB) varsity and non-varsity combined chorus, and includes men grades 9 through 12. They are expected to maintain eligibility at all times, to have a good work ethic, and to participate in all choir performance activities including Fall, Cluster, Winter, and Spring Concerts, as well as All-Region, Solo and Ensemble, and UIL competitions. They will perform many varied styles of choral music, and will focus on vocal pedagogy, sight- reading skills, musicianship, and ethics.
