Varsity Choir UIL Rehearsals: 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. on dates below:
Required of all 2nd and 6th period choir members, this is a time of preparation for choir UIL competition. We will combine our varsity men and varsity women to rehearse our three pieces for UIL and to practice sight-reading together SAB. These rehearsals are the only times we have to put all these pieces together, and rehearse balance, blend, phrasing, intonation, and dynamics together. In other words, this is our opportunity to take these pieces to the next level or beyond. Missing these rehearsals can qualify you to not go to UIL, so don't miss, and don't be late!!!!!! These are our only after-school rehearsals all spring, except the day of Spring Concert in May. Conflicts MUST be cleared with the director IN ADVANCE - meaning at least 24 hours ahead. Make plans now for attendance and for transportation. Babysitting, transportation, and work will not be excused.

Choir Banquet: Sam Houston HS Cafeteria May 11, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.
Come be a part of this fun annual event. Music, food, dancing (no lewd dancing allowed), and awards fill the evening. What a great opportunity to dress up (formal to business casual), mix, mingle, bring dates, and invite your family. Italy Restaurant is catering the event which will be held in the Sam Houston HS Cafeteria $15.00 tickets must be purchased in advance, and will cover the entire cost of your evening meal, music, dancing, awards, and decorations. Get your tickets now. You may bring your friends and family, but they must also purchase a ticket. Tickets will be on sale from now through May 8, and can be purchased in the choir room during class, between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m., or from 11:00 - 11:30 a.m. each day. Awards will be plentiful - don't miss the opportunity to get your award!!!! Bring your family, too, so they can see you accept your awards!!!!

Spring Concert Performance: Leavitt Pavilion, May 15, 7:00 p.m.
This is a required performance for all Sam Houston choir students. Please invite your parents! You are responsible for your audience!!!! Call time to load the bus is 4:50 pm. in the Sam Houston choir room. That gives you time to get something to eat before we have to leave for downtown Arlington. We will arrive and rehearse/get sound checks at the Pavilion about 5:15 p.m. Dress is solid, bright colored t-shirts with "un-holy" jeans. The concert will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m., and should end around 8:30 p.m. This is a super-fun concert with solos, small groups, as well as individual and combined choir numbers. The sound system at the Leavitt will WOW you. It will be the most entertaining concert of the year! There will be a bus to bring you back after the concert. You must ride the bus back unless I have a note from your parent IN ADVANCE (at least 24 hours) that they will be taking you home. Arrival time back at Sam will be about 9:15 p.m.

Choir Post-UIL Social: SHHS Cafeteria Friday, April 13
This is a FREE social for all Sam Houston UIL Choir members to enjoy. (From 2nd and 6th period choirs.) You don't want to miss this choir event! We will have a movie, popcorn, koolaid, and everyone is encouraged to bring something for "potluck". Appetizers, main dishes, desserts, we should have it all!!!! This will be the best party so far this year!!!!

Skating Party: Arlington Skatium, December 16, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m
This is a chance for ALL Sam Houston Choir members to mix, meet, and mingle. BRING YOUR FRIENDS!!!! You don't want to miss this choir event. Family and guests of choir students are welcome. $8.00 admission includes skate rental. The price goes down with more people present, so the more the merrier (and the less expensive….). Meet us at the Skatium at 6:00 for the best discount. Address is 5515 S. Cooper St. Just past Green Oaks on the East side of Cooper Street.

UTA Audition Clinic, October 15 - UTA
This is the first audition in the series of auditions for membership in the All-District, All-Region, I highly encourage anyone who is planning to do solo and ensemble, Round 2 and higher in the All-State auditions, or especially college scholarship auditions to take advantage of this opportunity being offered by UTArlington. This will help prepare you for any of these auditions, and much of what is taught here can also be utilized for things like job interviews, college interviews, formal class presentations, etc.
